Retiran cargos a transexual que usó baño de damas en metro de Nueva York

NUEVA YORK - La policía retiró los cargos contra un reparador de teléfonos que estaba en proceso de reasignación sexual (a mujer) y que alega fue arrestado tres veces en seis meses por usar el baño de damas de la estación central de trenes de la ciudad.

Helena Stone, de 70 años, dijo el martes que un agente le dijo que era "una loca, una bicha rara y la mujer más fea del mundo".

Su abogado, Michael Silverman, de la Fundación para la Defensa Legal de los Transexuales, dijo que presentó quejas a la policía de la MTA (Autoridad Metropolitana del Transporte) y a la Comisión de Derechos Humanos municipal, según la cual los baños públicos están disponibles para personas transexuales "de acuerdo a su identidad o expresión sexual".

Tom Kelly, portavoz de la MTA, dijo que retirarían los cargos de conducta desordenada en contra de Stone y que el asunto quedaba resuelto.

"Estamos investigando cómo ocurrió esto, y tomaremos las medidas necesarias para evitar situaciones similares en el futuro", dijo Kelly.
